I hadn't heard the term "doux commerce" before, but I believe in it absolutely. There's a good reason why "la gastronomie est l'arme de la diplomatie".
Very good points. But, it can be hard not to be a hypocrite, when you're living in a place where natural wines are impossible to find. You go nuts looking for proper vegetables, etc, then wash it all down with plonk. What to do?!
