Yes, it's kind of startling to imagine the extent of the vineyards that once covered the Paris region. Haussmann decimated medieval Paris, which I think is a tragedy, but at the same time introduced all the modern conveniences of a sewage system, water, electricity, etc. But the vine endures and is still present in practically every quarter of the city.
